Materials Needed:

Yarn

·         Bernat Super Value, Berry, approx. 240 yds

·         Small amount of black

Extras

·         2 safety eyes, 10mm

·         Stuffing

·         3.5mm hook

·         Scissors

·         Tapestry Needle


Stitches Key:

sc – single crochet

inc – increase/2 single crochet in same stitch

dec – decrease/single crochet 2 together

ch/s – chain/s

st/s – stitch/es

sl st – slip stitch

rnd - round


Gauge:

9 sc and 10 rows = 2 inches


Size:

Finished Caspian is approx. 10” toe to toe and 11” bum to claw


Pieces you will need:

·         4 leg A (2 panels each)

·         4 leg B (2 panels each)

·         claw A (2 panels)

·         claw B (2 panels)

·         body – top (1 panel)

·         body – bottom (1 panel)


Notes:

·         ch 1 at the beginning of each row does not count as st

·         ch 1 and turn at the end of every row unless otherwise marked, including when working in the round for the bottom body panel

·         when stitching together the pieces make sure to stick your hook through BOTH pieces to make sure they’re sewn together, you will stitch in every row and stitch around the panel, applying any special notes indicated in that portion of the pattern

·         always attach yarn with a slip st to the wrong side of your last row



Leg A (make 4):

Row 1: ch 4, sc 3 (3)

Row 2-6: sc 3 (3)

Row 7: inc, dec (3)

Place leg panels, wrong sides together, lining up the stitches. Attach yarn to first sc of row 1, working towards toe.

·         sc 2 into row 7 on the outside side of the bend

You will now work around the perimeter of the panel just made

 

Rnd 1-4: sc 70, sl st to first sc

Fasten off, weave in ends, set aside [img 5]

Top

Repeat rows 1-24, do not fasten off [img 4]

 

Pull up your loop and set aside for the moment.



Finishing:

Sew your claws onto your bottom body panel by attaching them across rnd 3, starting at row 3

 

Sew your legs vertically across the rnds of the bottom body panel, starting at rnd 4, and stitching them 3 sts apart from each other, making sure the right side is facing the claws. (4 legs on each side) [img 6 & 7]

Sew your mouth onto the bottom panel centered between the claws at approx. rnds 3 & 4

 

Attach your eyes between rows 3 & 4 of the top body panel with 6 sts between them.


Stitching together:

Pick your loop back up from the top body panel, place your top and bottom panels, wrong sides together, lining up your stitches (make sure your row 1’s are together and the eyes are on the claw side of the body)

 

Stitch with the top body panel facing you

 

Special notes:

·         You will work around the perimeter of the top body panel, stitching it to rnd 4 of the bottom body panel

·         Work through the back loop only of rnd 4 [img 8]

·         Stuff before closing
